As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of ability and luck. The aim is to shift your pieces carefully around the board to your inner board while at the same time your opposition moves their pieces toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With opposing player pieces heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific techniques at particular times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon strategies to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift his pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely block any movement of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if he ever attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point eleven in your game board. As soon as you’ve successfully assembled the prime to prevent the movement of your opponent, the opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your checkers and toss the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The objectives of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions with hope to boost your odds of winning, but the Back Game strategy uses alternate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game plan is commonly employed when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this plan, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This technique is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
