The aim of a Backgammon game is to move your pieces around the game board and bear those pieces from the board quicker than your opponent who works harder to do the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a round of Backgammon requires both tactics and good luck. How far you will be able to shift your checkers is up to the numbers from rolling a pair of dice, and how you move your pieces are determined by your overall playing tactics. Players use different tactics in the differing stages of a match depending on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Plan

The goal of the Running Game strategy is to bring all your pieces into your inside board and get them off as fast as you could. This strategy focuses on the speed of advancing your checkers with absolutely no efforts to hit or block your competitor’s checkers. The ideal scenario to use this tactic is when you think you can move your own pieces quicker than the opposing player does: when 1) you have a fewer pieces on the game board; 2) all your chips have past your competitor’s checkers; or 3) the opponent does not employ the hitting or blocking technique.

The Blocking Game Plan

The primary goal of the blocking technique, by its title, is to block your opponent’s pieces, temporarily, not fretting about shifting your pieces rapidly. Once you’ve created the barrier for the opponent’s movement with a couple of pieces, you can move your other checkers quickly off the board. The player really should also have a good strategy when to extract and move the pieces that you used for the blockade. The game becomes interesting when the competitor uses the same blocking strategy.
