As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The goal is to shift your pieces carefully around the game board to your home board while at the same time your opposing player moves their chips toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces shifting in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular techniques at specific times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon strategies to round out your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the aim of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to move their pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any activity of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get hit, or result a damaged position if she ever attempts to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anywhere between point two and point eleven in your board. Once you have successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of the competitor, the competitor does not even get to toss the dice, that means you move your checkers and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Plan
The aims of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game strategy are very similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions hoping to boost your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game technique relies on alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game technique is often utilized when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
