How far you can shift your pieces is up to the numbers from rolling the dice, and just how you move your pieces are determined by your overall playing techniques. Enthusiasts use different strategies in the differing stages of a game depending on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Technique
The goal of the Running Game strategy is to lure all your pieces into your inside board and pull them off as quick as you can. This plan concentrates on the pace of advancing your pieces with no time spent to hit or barricade your opponent’s chips. The ideal scenario to use this strategy is when you think you can shift your own pieces faster than your opposition does: when 1) you have less checkers on the game board; 2) all your pieces have moved beyond your competitor’s pieces; or 3) the opponent does not use the hitting or blocking tactic.
The Blocking Game Technique
The primary goal of the blocking technique, by its name, is to block your competitor’s pieces, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your pieces quickly. After you have established the blockage for your competitor’s movement with a couple of chips, you can move your other chips quickly from the game board. You will need to also have a good plan when to extract and move the chips that you employed for blocking. The game gets intriguing when your competitor uses the same blocking technique.
