As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The goal is to move your pieces carefully around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opponent shifts their pieces toward their home board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips shifting in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific strategies at specific times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move her pieces, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get bumped, or end up in a bad position if she ever attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. Once you’ve successfully assembled the prime to block the activity of your opponent, your opponent doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, and you shift your chips and roll the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions in hope to improve your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game plan relies on alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game strategy is frequently employed when you’re far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this plan, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more difficult than others to use in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partially the result of the dice roll.
