As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of ability and good luck. The aim is to move your checkers safely around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opposing player moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular strategies at specific times. Here are the two final Backgammon techniques to round out your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift her chips, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any movement of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get bumped, or result a bad position if she at all tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your board. Once you’ve successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of your competitor, your competitor doesn’t even get to toss the dice, that means you shift your pieces and roll the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to harm your competitor’s positions with hope to boost your chances of winning, however the Back Game tactic utilizes different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is generally utilized when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this plan, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more complex than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are moved is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
