As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The goal is to move your checkers safely around the game board to your inner board and at the same time your opposition shifts their pieces toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at particular instances. Here are the last two Backgammon strategies to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their checkers, the Priming Game plan is to completely barricade any activity of the opponent by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if he/she at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. As soon as you have successfully built the prime to prevent the movement of the opponent, the opponent does not even get to roll the dice, and you shift your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The aims of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions in hope to better your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game technique uses seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game plan is generally used when you are far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partially the result of the dice toss.
