As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of skill and luck. The goal is to move your checkers carefully around the game board to your inner board while at the same time your opponent shifts their pieces toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player chips moving in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to shift her pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely barricade any movement of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if he/she at all tries to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point 11 in your game board. After you’ve successfully built the prime to prevent the activity of your opponent, your competitor does not even get to toss the dice, that means you move your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game strategy are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions hoping to improve your chances of winning, but the Back Game technique utilizes alternate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game plan is commonly used when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are relocated is partially the result of the dice roll.
