As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and luck. The goal is to shift your checkers safely around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player moves their checkers toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player chips heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular strategies at specific times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon plans to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to move her chips, the Priming Game plan is to completely barricade any activity of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if she at all attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point eleven in your half of the board. Once you’ve successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of the opponent, the opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your checkers and roll the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game technique are similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions with hope to improve your chances of winning, however the Back Game strategy uses different techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is commonly employed when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this plan, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are moved is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
