As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and pure luck. The aim is to shift your checkers safely around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opposing player moves their checkers toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With competing player chips shifting in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific strategies at specific times. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to complete your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the goal of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to shift her chips, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely block any movement of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if he/she at all attempts to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anywhere between point two and point eleven in your half of the board. As soon as you have successfully built the prime to block the movement of your competitor, the opponent does not even get to roll the dice, and you move your pieces and roll the dice again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions in hope to better your chances of winning, but the Back Game strategy relies on different tactics to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is generally employed when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this strategy, you have to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more complex than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
