As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of skill and pure luck. The aim is to shift your pieces safely around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opponent shifts their checkers toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With competing player chips moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for specific techniques at specific times. Here are the two final Backgammon plans to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to shift her pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely block any movement of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a battered position if she at all attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. Once you’ve successfully built the prime to block the movement of the opponent, your opponent doesn’t even get a chance to roll the dice, and you shift your pieces and roll the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The goals of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to harm your opponent’s positions in hope to boost your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game technique relies on alternate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game technique is frequently employed when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this tactic, you have to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice toss.
