The Running Game Plan
The goal of the Running Game technique is to entice all your checkers into your inner board and bear them off as fast as you can. This tactic focuses on the speed of shifting your pieces with little or no efforts to hit or barricade your opponent’s pieces. The ideal scenario to employ this plan is when you think you can move your own checkers faster than the opposing player does: when 1) you have less chips on the board; 2) all your pieces have past your competitor’s chips; or 3) your opposing player doesn’t use the hitting or blocking plan.
The Blocking Game Plan
The primary goal of the blocking strategy, by its name, is to block the opponent’s checkers, temporarily, not worrying about moving your chips quickly. As soon as you have established the blockage for your opponent’s movement with a few checkers, you can move your other chips rapidly off the board. You should also have a good strategy when to back off and shift the checkers that you used for blocking. The game gets interesting when the opponent uses the same blocking tactic.
