As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of skill and pure luck. The aim is to shift your chips safely around the board to your inner board and at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at specific instances. Here are the 2 final Backgammon tactics to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move her pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to completely stop any movement of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get hit, or result a battered position if she at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your board. After you’ve successfully assembled the prime to prevent the activity of your opponent, your competitor does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your checkers and toss the dice yet again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The goals of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions hoping to better your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game plan utilizes different techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is commonly utilized when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the checkers are moved is partly the result of the dice toss.
