As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of ability and pure luck. The aim is to shift your pieces safely around the board to your home board and at the same time your opponent moves their checkers toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player pieces moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular tactics at specific instances. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to complete your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the aim of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to shift their pieces, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely block any movement of the opponent by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he/she at all attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anyplace between point two and point 11 in your board. As soon as you have successfully assembled the prime to stop the movement of the opponent, the opponent does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your chips and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The goals of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions in hope to boost your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game plan utilizes seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game strategy is generally utilized when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you need to hold two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are relocated is partially the result of the dice toss.
