As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and good luck. The goal is to shift your checkers safely around the board to your home board and at the same time your opponent shifts their pieces toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player chips moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at particular times. Here are the two final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to move their chips, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely block any movement of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if she at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point two and point eleven in your game board. As soon as you’ve successfully built the prime to prevent the activity of your opponent, the competitor does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your chips and toss the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The goals of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions hoping to improve your chances of succeeding, however the Back Game strategy uses alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is commonly utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To compete in Backgammon with this strategy, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This strategy is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are relocated is partially the result of the dice toss.
