As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and luck. The goal is to move your checkers carefully around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opposition moves their pieces toward their inner board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular tactics at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to shift his pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get bumped, or end up in a bad position if he at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. Once you’ve successfully assembled the prime to stop the activity of the opponent, your competitor does not even get a chance to toss the dice, and you shift your chips and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions in hope to better your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game technique relies on alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game tactic is frequently utilized when you’re far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this plan, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
