As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of ability and pure luck. The goal is to shift your pieces safely around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opposition moves their checkers toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player chips moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific techniques at specific instances. Here are the last 2 Backgammon strategies to finish off your game.
The Priming Game Tactic
If the aim of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their chips, the Priming Game strategy is to completely stop any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get bumped, or end up in a battered position if she ever tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point eleven in your board. As soon as you’ve successfully built the prime to block the activity of the competitor, the competitor doesn’t even get to toss the dice, and you shift your pieces and roll the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Plan
The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions hoping to improve your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game strategy uses different techniques to do that. The Back Game plan is often used when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this plan, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are moved is partially the result of the dice roll.
