As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and pure luck. The goal is to move your checkers carefully around the game board to your home board while at the same time your opposing player shifts their chips toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular techniques at particular instances. Here are the two final Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the aim of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to shift her pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to completely stop any activity of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if she at all attempts to escape the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anyplace between point two and point 11 in your game board. After you have successfully constructed the prime to prevent the activity of the opponent, your competitor does not even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your pieces and roll the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The goals of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to harm your opponent’s positions hoping to boost your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game technique uses alternate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is commonly employed when you’re far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more difficult than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the pieces are moved is partially the result of the dice roll.
